Learn to discover light with Professor Sylvia Pont! In this interactive lecture on 9 April 2024, Pont will show you light. Literally and figuratively, by connecting perception, optics and design and bringing together science, art and technology.
In a Wunderkammer of visual light effects, Pont shows the wonder that, for example, Van Leeuwenhoek and Vermeer would have experienced at their discoveries, but sometimes "You only start seeing it when you realize it." (Johan Cruijff). The lecture will show and discuss examples and invite you to participate in tests to discover light.
Sylvia Pont is Antoni van Leeuwenhoek Professor of Perceptual Intelligence at TU Delft. Her main interests are light design, visual communication of light, material, form and space, research and design of visual form presentation and fabric expression in art.
