"The degree programme is really challenging."

I started choosing my degree programme at an early stage and soon realised I wanted to focus on something technical. I found out that it was the maths in each programme that interested me most. So I thought: “Why not just study maths?” I thought a lot about it. I mean, would maths on its own actually be fun? Fortunately, there are many different types of maths and lots to learn, which makes the programme extremely varied.

I’ve now almost completed my first year. I feel very much at home in Delft and enjoy the independence of living in student accommodation. I work with my fellow students on a lot of assignments, which makes it feel as if I’m not on my own.

The degree programme is a real challenge, but I’m really happy with it. I found the pace difficult at first, because you learn something new every day. You start with the basics and build on that during the programme. The thing I liked best in the first year was programming, because it makes a nice change from the more theoretical courses.

I don’t know what I’ll do after this programme. I like the idea of working for the government later on or of getting a job in another country.
