"I saw that X is offering Gardening and I was immediately interested because I believe that being able to grow your own vegetables will have added value in the future."

Brothers and sister...

...Marieke (PhD candidate in Mathematics), Luc (PhD candidate in Aerospace Engineering) and Bart garden together at Campus Farm. They rent 1/3 garden bed and grow rhubarb, peppers, tomatoes, various herbs and even samphire.

Luc:

"I saw that X is offering Gardening and I was immediately interested because I believe that being able to grow your own vegetables will have added value in the future. Gardening at the Campus Farm looks like a nice way to start.”

Marieke:

"Normally, I don’t really care about the weather, but now when it hasn't rained for a while, I suddenly find myself thinking that a little water is good for the plants. I think it's fun to grow things that we can eat ourselves. Gardening at X is a try-out for later, when we may really start growing something bigger.”

Luc:

"Having your own garden is important to me in terms of nutrition, quality, taste and origin. We used to eat organic since our childhood, so we are used to that.”

Marieke:

"I really enjoy gardening. I just walk around, water the plants and look at them. Sometimes there are other people to talk to. This makes gardening very relaxing.”

Would you...

...recommend the Campus Farm to others? Both: "Yes, it's a very nice hobby. You may worry about whether a plant is growing well, but in the end it is nice to be outside, it's satisfying when your garden grows well and you get something out of it! Alongside your studies, which can be intensive, it is nice to put your mind at rest here and have other thoughts.”
