DiversAbility

Employee Network for anyone with a chronic disease, physical or psychological disability, or neurodiversity.

Goal

Our mission is to improve the working lives of employees with a chronic disease, physical or psychological disability (as well as neurodiversity), their managers, and their colleagues. This way we help to unlock the unique and innovative contribution they can bring to TU Delft.

DiversAbility provides a platform where employees can find support with peers and learn from each other’s experiences. By functioning as a sounding and advisory board, and additionally, as a knowledge network for the TU Delft working community, this platform aims to create more awareness, knowledge and understanding within the TU Delft working community.

Activities

We hold monthly meetings where all members are welcome to join and exchange experiences in a safe environment. Every month, we choose one overarching topic to guide our conversation.

At the university level, we stimulate awareness and share knowledge about these topics by holding and contributing to events, such as the yearly Diversity Week.

We advise and collaborate with other organizations within TU Delft on topics regarding chronic disease, physical or psychological disability or vulnerability, and neurodiversity.

How to join DiversAbility?

If you want to join DiversAbility, please send us a message and tell us briefly about your motivation to join us. One of our members will get back to you and invite you to the online Teams environment and the next coffee/lunch session so you can meet the rest of the group. We encourage you to share about yourself, but we also respect how difficult it can be.

OUR MEMBERS

Many of our members have joined because they have a hidden disability or chronic disease or are neurodiverse. All our members are experiencing challenges in the workplace: either with understanding from their colleagues, or not having an ideal workspace that suits their needs, etc. Many of our members are struggling with work-life-self balance and how to ensure that they prioritize their own health and well-being.

DiversAbility is a support group and although we may not be able to solve these issues, we are able to support members so that they do not feel alone. We provide support or resources that help members to address their current challenges. We help members feel that they are not alone.

All our members are part of an online Teams space, where we discuss various topics and share tips and tricks with fellow members.
