Smith group

My research focuses on the fabrication and characterization of semiconductor materials used for solar energy conversion to liquid fuels through the oxidation of water and reduction of CO2.  Particular efforts are geared towards managing the absorption of light, separation of excited charge carriers, and catalysis.  Using earth abundant materials and scalable synthesis techniques, my research aims to provide alternative energy solutions for the future using environmentally benign techniques.
