Scientists at TU Delft work daily on solutions that positively affect the quality of life of a large number of people. To enable groundbreaking research, the University Fund supports research with great social value that needs extra support and for which government funding does not (entirely) provide.

Health & Healthcare
Increasing demand, shortages of healthcare personnel, and rising costs are putting the healthcare system under pressure. It must be more efficient and effective, and that is where Delft technology will make a big difference. Over 30% of all research at TU Delft, done by more than 600 researchers, is related to healthcare.
Climate & Energy transition
Globally, we are at the beginning of a massive energy transition. To reduce our CO2 emissions, limit global warming and thereby leave a liveable planet for future generations. Day in and day out, more than 1,000 scientists at TU Delft are working on projects that accelerate this process. The University Fund contributes to the university's ambition to take a leading role in this in the Netherlands.
Technology for developing countries
There are major global challenges in health, food security, clean and affordable energy, housing and infrastructure, and access to clean and safe drinking water. Research at TU Delft contributes greatly to the availability of technologies that can improve the lives of people around the world. The University Fund supports researchers committed to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
Digitale samenleving
Een digitale samenleving is er allang: van satellieten in de ruimte, je smartphone, verkeerslichten tot aan robots die plastic opruimen van de zeebodem. De vraag is hoe we deze samenleving zo goed en verantwoordelijk mogelijk ontwerpen en inrichten. Het Universiteitsfonds steunt onderzoeksprojecten die bijdragen aan een samenleving die menselijk blijft, gezond, rechtvaardig, inclusief en veilig. Maar ook schoon en duurzaam, en die de grote, complexe uitdagingen van deze tijd aankan.
