Education-related costs

Laptop and software

To study at TU Delft, you will need a laptop and often specific software. The software is usually provided by the faculty but you will have to buy the laptop yourself. Through TU Delft's laptop project, you can buy a laptop with discount which is suitable for all the subjects TU Delft has to offer. This year (2023-2024) this laptop will cost €1,429.00-.

Textbooks

In the first year, you will spend around €300 on textbooks. Via the study association you can often buy books at a discount price. You will also need to buy dictations and manuals, which are a lot cheaper than textbooks.

Living costs

In addition to the costs of studying itself, you will also incur living costs, especially if you are going to live in student housing or by yourself. TU Delft has investigated how high these costs are on average per month for students in Delft. This resulted in the following numbers:

  • Student living in student housing: €800 per month
  • Student living at home: €290 per month

Note: These numbers are based on average calculations and may vary by lifestyle and living situation. The calculations of these numbers can be found here.
