Extra challenges and support

In addition to the Applied Earth Sciences programme, several opportunities are offered for extra challenge, to network or to further develop yourself during your studies.

Or perhaps you need some some extra guidance instead.

New experiences

Internship

The curriculum of the Bachelor of Applied Earth Sciences does not include an internship. However, it is possible to arrange an internship independently outside the curriculum. Every year, the study association 'the MV' organises the Company Days. Here you can easily come into contact with many different companies. A fun way to gain extra practical experience! You will not receive any credits for an internship.

Additional opportunities

Academic counselling

Each study programme has one or more study advisors that you can turn to with questions about the content of the programme, its organization and everything that comes with it. Do you have questions about matters that go beyond your academic education? Career and Counseling Services has a team of student counsellors, psychologists and study choice and career advisers who can support you. The service is based on 5 pillars: Basic Study Skills, Learning to Collaborate, Making Choices during your Study (choice of study), Career Development and Self-Knowledge & Self-Management. There are - mostly free - (online) workshops, training courses, online material, walk-in consultation hours and the possibility of one-on-one conversations. For questions about studying with a disability, you can find more information here.

Mentoring

During the first semester of your studies, you will be assigned a mentor. This means that as a first-year student, you and about 10 other first-year students will be paired up with a student mentor from a higher year. The mentor will help you on your way with all kinds of practical matters concerning your studies. In addition, your mentor group is also the study group you follow subjects with in the first term.
