The field of biobased structures and materials is very wide and this is the reason why many research possibilities can open and rapidly develop within this framework.
Our group has an all-round competence on the subject, which leads to several research lines: starting from the direct use of trees and vegetation as structural elements, passing through the grading and optimization of sawn timber members and joints, up to the use of biobased structures even in extreme cases, such as earthquake-resistant or high-rise buildings. In this context, sustainability, durability and performance of these structures are key aspects in our research. And there is for sure room for other interesting subjects: just observe nature, and be curious! New ideas will be just behind the corner.
