Dynamics of pile driving and noise mitigation

The Environmental Vibration and Acoustic lab (EVA) is a dynamic research team of Dr. Apostolos Tsouvalas focused on the study of structures, structural acoustics, wave mechanics, earthquake engineering, and underwater acoustics. With a particular emphasis on wave radiation from offshore construction activities and noise induced in the underwater environment, the team's mission is to aid in the development of renewable energy sources such as offshore wind farms while mitigating the impact of human activities on the ocean environment. With an extensive background in structural dynamics and acoustics, the team employs cutting-edge research techniques and innovative strategies to better understand the vibration of structures and wave mechanics, as well as the effects of underwater noise on marine life. By focusing on the interaction between waves, structures, and marine life, the team hopes to improve the design, construction, and maintenance of offshore renewable energy systems while minimising their impact on the environment, ultimately contributing to a cleaner, more sustainable future.
