K.B. (Koen) Haakman

Profile

I am a PhD candidate at the department of Geoscience and Remote Sensing since June 2023. Previously, I studied Applied Mathematics and Geoscience and Remote Sensing, also at TU Delft. My main research interests are related to remote sensing for oceanographic applications.

Research

Changes in ocean tides may pose a serious risk for coastal environments. My PhD research is focused on estimation of trends in global ocean tides using satellite radar altimetry. In particular, it will be assessed to what extent the observed changes can be attributed to specific geophysical processes such as sea level rise and melting of sea ice.
