Profile

Dr. Srinath Mahesh is a postdoctoral researcher at the DiTTlab in the Department of Transport and Planning within the Faculty of Civil Engineering at Delft University of Technology. Previously, he held a postdoctoral researcher position in the Department of Civil, Structural, and Environmental Engineering at Trinity College Dublin, Ireland. He earned his PhD degree from the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT-M), and prior to that, he completed his M.Tech and B.Tech degrees in Civil Engineering, specializing in Transportation.

Research

Srinath's research primarily focuses on modeling and understanding the environmental impact of transportation. He is particularly interested in quantifying vehicle emissions using both real-world emission measurements and widely used emission models. His past research involved the utilization of portable emission measurement systems (PEMS) and remote sensing (RS) techniques to assess emissions from motorcycles, cars, buses, and trucks. Additionally, he has explored incorporating these emission models into traffic simulation models to enhance the accuracy of emission estimates. Currently, Srinath is working in the TULIPS project, which aims to enhance the sustainability of airports and accelerate progress towards decarbonizing the aviation sector.
