Profile

Mahsa Movaghar is a Ph.D. candidate in the department of Transport and Planning at the faculty of Civil Engineering and Geosciences (CEG) at Delft University of Technology (TU Delft).

Before joining TU Delft in September 2022, Mahsa obtained her M.Sc. in Transport and Geoinformation Technology at KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm. Collaborating with SWECO, AI and Automation group, her research focused on applying Machine Learning and data analysis techniques to predict ridership in public transport.

Before moving to Europe in 2020, she worked as a maintenance consultant for Iran’s railway. Mahsa finished her B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Civil Engineering, specializing in Railway Tracks Engineering at Iran University of Science and Technology (IUST), Tehran. Her research mainly focused on stochastic and Bayesian data analysis and modeling, with an application in the maintenance and planning of transportation and civil infrastructures.

Research

Mahsa has a keen interest in converting data-based insights into automated, robust, and sustainable decisions. Now her research focuses on developing eXplainable Artificial Intelligence approaches to evaluate the impacts of road interventions on traffic and environment.
