In the fifth grade I started thinking about what to do after high school. My interests were rather technical; my highest grades were in Mathematics, Economics and Physics and these were also the courses I liked the most, as far as one likes courses at high school. The actual problem was that I did not really have a preference between the three. So I started to look at a lot of universities. First I attended Open Days in Leiden and Delft, but I learned that I would need more information on a lot of studies to make the right choice. Thus I started to do shadow days. I went to Econometrics in Amsterdam, Mathematics, Physics and Astronomy in Leiden and Mechanical Engineering and Electrical Engineering in Delft. I found these days to be very helpful, getting a chance to feel the atmosphere and seeing for myself what the students would really be dealing with, instead of someone telling me about what students are dealing with. My choice had come down from about six studies to two; Mechanical Engineering and Electrical Engineering. Although maybe it was still kind of a guess between the two, I think I went with electrical engineering because it involves a little bit more mathematics when compared to mechanical engineering. And that’s about how I ended up here!
