Amelia Villegas Morcillo

I am a Postdoctoral Researcher working on AI-assisted drug discovery within the Delft Bioinformatics Lab at TUDelft. My broader vision is to develop computational methods for understanding natural phenomena and processes towards improving healthcare and, consequently, people's lives.

Previously, I obtained my PhD from the University of Granada, Spain, in 2022. During this period, I worked on protein fold and function prediction using representation learning. Following my PhD, I also spent six months at InstaDeep, London, developing protein structure prediction methods inspired by AlphaFold2.

I received my BSc and MSc degrees in Electrical Engineering from the University of Granada in 2015, and the Polytechnique University of Madrid in 2017, respectively. During my Masters, I specialized in Bioengineering and worked on spoken language recognition using deep learning.
