About us

Delft Open Hardware is a grassroots initiative that started in 2018 at the TU Delft. We are part of the bigger Open Science Community at TU Delft. Why wasn’t the open source philosophy an important aspect of our education programme? How come that open source is not a pillar in the narrative of technological and sustainable development? These questions have been driving our initiative since we started.

Since then, we have been developing different kinds of activities to foster open source innovation at TU Delft. Together we work on open source projects and share knowledge in the form of workshops, seminars. We also help students and researchers that want to open source their projects.

Since 2022 on, the Delft Open Hardware community onboarded our first  Research Hardware Engineer(RHE) Jerry de Vos,. Similar to a Research Software Engineer(RSE) the RHE helps community members by mentoring and transferring knowledge about  project design, hardware design,   documentation,  and reproducibility of your hardware project.
