A TRL is a measure to indicate the matureness of a developing technology. When an innovative idea is discovered it is often not directly suitable for application. Usually such novel idea is subjected to further experimentation, testing and prototyping before it can be implemented. The image below shows how to read TRL’s to categorise the innovative ideas.

Why?
To empower stakeholders in the transportation chains and improve their decisions and planning through increased shared situational awareness as well as better trained staff able to flexibly deal with dynamic circumstances.
How?
By developing and testing 8 innovative decision support and training tools such as simulation games to improve shared situational awareness in multi-stakeholder settings.
When?
The tools have already been approved by a leading player in the container terminal industry for training employees in integrated planning, safety and risk management in operations.
