Biosketch:
Yunxuan Miao started her PhD in the Ethics/Philosophy section at the Faculty of Technology, Policy and Management at TU Delft in 2022. She is currently working on value change in battery technologies in the energy transition process. Yunxuan completed a double M.A. in Sociology of Science at Tsinghua University (THU), with a second M.A. in Science, Technology and Society Studies from Tokyo Institute of Technology (Tokyo Tech). She also has a B.Sc. in Chemistry from Beijing Normal University (BNU). Before embarking on her PhD, she has been involved in projects on issues relating to the analysis of science policies and economic impacts of climate change.

Abstract research:
Yunxuan's PhD research project aims to explore how changes throughout the embedding of moral values in socio-technical systems can be understood and addressed in the context of battery. With a focus on changes in the conceptualisation and specification of values, the study will identify and elucidate value changes embedded in battery technologies from a socio-technical perspective. The research will be based on empirical knowledge gained by historical studies and sociological studies but also include normative analysis.

Hobbies:
In her spare time, Yunxuan likes to wander around, enjoy music (used to play the violin), practice Chinese calligraphy, watch detective/suspense movies and explore new things.
