Our intention for implementing a blended approach for this course was to strengthen the connection between self study and lectures, to let students study the course in a renewed way and transferring the course contents in a more structured and elaborative way. -
We indicated exactly what students would need to do in terms of self study in preparation of each thematic day (VGM/GBO/RP): read specific literature and watch a number of videos in preparation of the lectures which were shared via Brightspace. -
The self study replaced about 45 minutes of lecture time while the passing rates stayed comparable (75%) to the regular version. -
We were able to reduce time in our face-to-face moments with students (9 lecture hours). The passing rate of the exams (75%) was comparable to the regular version. -

However I don’t think all students used the videos in full. Perhaps the necessity to watch the videos was nog high enough for them yet. -

- I would recommend to spend time on improving communication with your students on why they are expected to work this way.
- For a next course run, we aim to increase the feasibillity of the amount of contents for students, and perhaps to better indicate the amount of time each part would take them in Brightspace.
