Energy Quay Wall

The energy quaywall utilises energy sheet pile walls to provide heating and cooling for space heating from water in canals and the soil adjacent to and under the canals. Heat storage is also provided by changing the temperature of the soil.

In this project, an evaluation of the performance of energy quaywalls is done, based on (i) a full scale field test and (ii) numerical modelling.

This project is a collaboration between CRUX, Gooimeer, Duurzme energie, TU Eindhoven and TU Delft. The project won the 2020 NENnovation award.
