Dr. O. (Oguzhan) Copuroglu


Oğuzhan is a civil engineer and Universitair Docent in Section of Materials and Environment. His research field and expertise cover concrete technology, concrete durability and forensic building materials engineering. Oguzhan has been strongly involved in BSc. and MSc. educational programs and committees of the faculty CEG. Since 2009, he has been organizing the international Concrete Microscopy Course (CMC) and was the chairman of the 15th Euroseminar on Microscopy Applied to Building Materials (EMABM).


Concrete durability: Secondary reactions e.g. ASR, Sulfate attack, extreme temperature effects, freezing/thawing, chloride ingress, carbonation and characterization of corrosion products

Forensic building materials engineering: Concrete microscopy and microanalysis, development and application of new forensic methods for damage diagnosis and materials characterization 

Emerging topics: Sustainable mix design development for concrete 3D printing, Self healing materials, glass as a building material
