Education

The Department Maritime and Transport Technology (M&TT) is responsible for the two-year MSc program Marine Technology, the two-year MSc Program Mechanical Engineering, track Multi-Machine Engineering, the two year MSc program Offshore & Dredging Engineering and participates in the interfacultairy MSc Program Transport, Infrastructure and Logistics. M&TT also provides courses in the BSc programs of Mechanical Engineering and Marine Technology.

MSc programme Marine Technology

TU Delft’s MSc programme in Marine Technology is the only one of its type offered in the Netherlands. It trains students to be engineers capable of handling the entire process of design, construction, production and operation of ships and marine systems. The programme offers five specialisations.

  • Ship and Offshore Structures (structural aspects of ships and other maritime craft)
  • Ship Hydromechanics (hydromechanics for maritime engineers)
  • Marine Engineering (design and operation of systems on board ships)
  • Ship Design (integrating all different aspects of successful ship design)
  • Maritime Operations and Management (economic and legal aspects of MT as well as ship production)

MSc programme Mechanical Engineering, Track: Multi-Machine Engineering

Society faces tremendous challenges to meet demands on efficiency, sustainability, and safety of complex processes. In the logistics and production domain Multi-Machine Engineering address these challenges with an integrated perspective that combines core (mechanical systems’) design with real-time operation and distributed machine-machine interactions. In the track <link onderwijs opleidingen masters me msc-mechanical-engineering track-overview track-multi-machine-engineering-former-tel>Multi-Machine Engineering (former TEL) you develop the skills necessary to design such integrated multi-machine systems, combining science-based methodologies, with state-of-the-art tools, and hands-on lab and industrial case experience.

MSc programme Offshore & Dredging

Offshore & Dredging Engineers make structures such as fixed and floating platforms for the oil and gas industry. They also design undersea pipelines and other underwater equipment for this sector. An important feature is the design of dredging equipment for land reclamation, maintenance and the recovery of embedded minerals in deep-sea locations. Another application of offshore engineering is the design of offshore wind farms. Offshore & Dredging Engineers are the people who design facilities for the 70% of the earth’s surface area that is not land.

There are three specialisations within the MSc Offshore & Dredging Engineering:

  • Bottom Founded Structures
  • Floating Structures
  • Dredging Engineering

MSc programme Transport, Infrastructure and Logistics (TIL)

The MSc programme in Transport, Infrastructure and Logistics (TIL) provides graduates with a comprehensive view of the field of transport, infrastructure and logistics. TIL graduates have up-to-date knowledge of

  •  transport policy making and spatial planning
  • design of transport systems, supply chains and infrastructure networks
  • the operation, management and control of these systems.

BSc programmes

M&TT also provides courses in the BSc programmes of:
