Road users’ safety
The Netherlands was among the first countries to develop and integrate the sustainable safety principles in the design guidelines and in its infrastructure network design. However, as the crash numbers indicate, the safety of cyclists did not improve as much as the other road users in traffic. How can we increase the safety of cyclists and other vulnerable road users? How can we guarantee the safety of all road users in an evolving transportation world where new forms of mobility popping up, such as micro-mobility?
