Record number of TSC grants for Chemical Engineering students

Six talented Chemical Engineering (CE) master students have won a Top Sector Chemical scholarship this year. The students are Elise Roelse (the Netherlands), Lale Yildiz (Turkey), Sebastian Tietjen (Germany), Emma Szoboszlai (Hungary), Abinaya Arunachalam (India) and Laura Donk (the Netherlands). Never before have so many CE students received such a grant.

ERC Consolidator grant for Chirlmin Joo and Pouyan Boukany

This year, two ERC Consolidator grants have been awarded to TU Delft researchers. Both these researchers work at the Faculty of Applied Sciences. Dr. Pouyan Boukany from the Department of Chemical Engineering wants to learn when, how and why metastatic tumour cells detach form a tumour. Dr. Chirlmin Joo from the Department of Bionanoscience wants to develop a new gene editing tool based on a system found in a single-celled organism.

Veni for four researchers of AS

NWO has announced the Veni recipients for 2018. Amongst them are four researchers from the faculty of Applied Sciences: Jeremy Brown (RST), Zoltán Perkó (RST), Georgy Filonenko (ChemE) and Carlas Smith (ImPhys). The Veni grants allow researchers who have recently obtained their PhD to conduct independent research and develop their ideas for a period of three years.

Virtual tour of the catalysis lab

The new industrial catalysis lab is still under construction, but a few colleagues were already able to go for a walk inside the building last Monday. In 3D virtual reality, that is. A nice and very useful experience, as it turned out!
