Product, Process and Equipment Design

Join a unique programme, where you apply your technical knowledge to projects with major players in the process industry at a doctorate level.

The two-year Engineering Doctorate Programme is a unique way to kick-start an engineering career.

Our Engineering Doctorate (EngD) programme in Product, Process and Equipment Design is an advanced-level training programme that trains and educates MSc graduates to become certified designers. After a careful selection process, MSc graduates are hired as EngD trainees in a full-time, two-year programme and become salaried employees of the University.

In addition to deepening and broadening your knowledge, you will learn about multi-disciplinary problem-solving, project management and functioning in multicultural teams.

This EngD programme lets you acquire and develop your product and process design skills while working on real design challenges for and with our partners. You will be solving challenges in the energy transition, circular economy and health & nutrition fields.

Successful trainees are awarded the degree of Engineering Doctorate (EngD) and may add the abbreviation EngD to their professional title. The EngD diplomas are registered with:

The Royal Netherlands Society of Engineers KIVI (Koninklijk Instituut van Ingenieurs) The Netherlands

The programme was developed in 1990 by TU Delft in close collaboration with the Research School Process Technology (OSPT) and the Dutch (chemical) industry. Since that time, almost 300 graduates have successfully completed an engineering doctorate programme at the Chemical Engineering department.
