General

Why Prometheus?
The employee association Prometheus was created to add unique recreational and social opportunities for TU Delft employees. It is important to find a good balance between relaxation and work. Everyone at Prometheus does their best to organize a good and varied programme. Please do get in touch if you have a suggestion .
Prometheus membership gives you the opportunity to meet colleagues working in other areas at this vast university in a social setting.

What types of activities does Prometheus organize?
Prometheus organizes just about anything you can think of and we appreciate your activity suggestions.

There are regular workshops, tastings, sporting events, PUBQuizzes, daytrips, theatre and concerts. There are even holidays.

What’s my membership number?
After you have submitted the registration form the Prometheus office will send you a welcome email with your membership number.
Please contact our office if you lose or forget your membership number.

How does Prometheus deal with my privacy?
When you join Prometheus you agree to your details being recorded in the membership database.

Your email address will be recorded in the database for PrometheusNieuws. Both databases are housed on the TU Delft servers and fall under the TU Delft privacy statement. Read the Prometheus privacy statement here.

When you register for an (online) activity we request personal details. Those details may be shared with the event supplier so that they may send everything you need for the activity to your address.

Annual General meeting (AGM) - who is invited?
All members are invited to attend the AGM. Your partner and other family members are not invited, unless they are a member in their own right. Our rules and regulations define who may attend and vote.

What is discussed at the AGM?
During the AGM the board present the results of the past year and the plans for the coming year . It is your chance to ask questions.

Membership

Membership types
Prometheus has 2 membership categories: members and associate members.
Members are those who currently have a TU Delft employment contract or are a retired TU Delft employee.
If a retired member ends the memberhship he/she cannot re-join at a later date.
Associate members have a TU Delft Holdings employment contract .

Donor
Prometheus recognizes donors and donors may donate to Prometheus. However, donors are not a member and cannot take part in activities unless the board decides otherwise.

Who can join?
Employees with a TU Delft or the TU Delft Holdings employment contract are invited to join Prometheus for the duration of their employ at TU Delft or TU Delft Holdings. If you leave TU Delft or TU Delft Holdings to work elsewhere then your membership ceases.

I work at Deltares and my colleague is an associate member of Prometheus. May I also join?
No. The current Prometheus rules and regulations state that only TU Delft and TU Delft Holdings employees may join Prometheus. Your colleague joined before the current regulations were approved and those memberships remain intact unless the member chooses to end the membership. Once ended the membership cannot be re-activated.

How do I join?
You start your membership by completing and submitting this HR form .
If you are retired and did not continue your membership when you retired from TU Delft then you cannot re-join.

I am retiring soon, can I continue my membership?
Yes. Please provide us with your current home address and personal email address so that we can keep you informed.
Annually we will ask you to pay your membership fee.

If you do not pay your membership fee on time or you end your membership you may not re-join at a later date.
Your membership is personal and cannot be transferred.

Membership fee

How much is the membership fee and how do I pay?
The membership fee is 3 euro monthly. The membership fee is deducted directly from your salary.
Retired members and associate members will, each January, receive a payment request from the treasurer. You are required to pay the membership fee of 36 euro.
If you become an associate member or retire half way through the year then we will send you a payment request for the remaining months.
Deltares Associate members pay by direct deduction in their salary.

Ending your membership

How do I end my membership?

  • Employee: If you are a TU employee thenfill in this HR form to end your membership. This is important, only when you end your membership in this way will the deduction of the membership fee cease.
  • Retired and associate members: please get in touch with our office who will end your membership for you. When you end your membership you may not re-join.

Programme

How do I find out about the activities?
All events are published on our website: www.prometheus.tudelft.nl

PrometheusNieuws, our newsletter, is published every 2 weeks and sent to your email address. You may receive this newsletter on both your TU email address and/or your personal address. Just let us know your preferences.

How do I register for an activity?

In both PrometheusNieuws and on our website, you will find a unique registration link for each activity. Please complete the registration form for an activity only once. After you have completed the form you will automatically receive a confirmation of registration. When we know that the activity can go ahead, we will send you a confirmation.

At a later date the Prometheus office will send you more information including, if applicable, a payment request.

Participation

Can I bring a guest along?
Yes and no. For most activities you can bring a guest along; your partner, a family member or friend is welcome. There are exceptions:

  • Campus activities: These activities generally take place on campus during office hours and are for our members only.
  • Family activities: your family (your partner and children who live in your home with you) are welcome to join in.

PrometheusNieuws contains information regarding the number of tickets you may reserve.

How much does my guest pay?
For most activities you may purchase 2 tickets at the member’s price. There are exceptions which will be published on the website.

Can I buy more that 2 tickets?
Generally no, exceptions can occur and they will be mentioned in PrometheusNieuws and on the website.

Regulations for participation

I have reserved places, can I give them to someone else?
No, your reserved places are yours personally. You may not give them to another member or someone who is not a member. If you decide not to take part then please get in touch with our office a.s.a.p. to see what we can do for you.

Can my partner take part with our children?
We understand that some of our activities may not appeal to you or that your professional diary may not allow you to attend for example a family daytrip. However, your partner and children may not take part without you.

My partner wants to take part in an activity  and I don’t. Can he/she take part without me?
No. Prometheus serves first and foremost her members.

Can my mother (for example) take part in a day trip without me?
You can take part together with your mother but she cannot take part without you.

Payment for activities

How do I pay for my tickets/participation?
The Prometheus office will send you a payment request for your reservation and all  information pertaining to the activity ie. meeting link or departure time of the coach by email.

Why are some activities free and do I have to pay for others?
At Prometheus we try to offer something for everybody. Even if your budget does not allow for ‘extra’s’ there will always be some free activities for you to join in. Some of the activities we offer are expensive and our finances do not allow us to offer these activities for free.
