Alizé: STANDING ON THE SHOULDERS OF GIANTS

This design celebrates the three pioneers Antoni van Leeuwenhoek, Martinus Willem Beijerinck and Gerrit van Iterson. The design metaphors the saying ‘standing on the shoulder of giants’ through the different heights of flooring. While the ground floor connects the pioneers through a botanical garden. The sturdy construction of this intermediate floor represents the solid basis the three pioneers created for their successors. The design of the staircase, created by cells of plywood, continues this metaphor, creating a coherence between construction and display elements.
