Blended Bootcamps: First Impression & Looking Ahead

New opportunities in campus course design & development

Last month TLS organized the blended course design bootcamp, a 2-day external event with the focus on either improving an existing campus course or creating one from scratch. Two course teams (lecturers, TA’s & educational advisers) from the faculty of AS & CEG participated in this first bootcamp.

On the first day the course teams created a blueprint for their course and in addition made a start with their storyboard. On the second day they completed the first versions of their storyboard. Afterwards they could work on the prototypes of their learning activities and the planning of the development process after the bootcamp.

It was inspiring to see the teams work on their courses with such enthousiasm and dedication. In this setting the teams could fully commit their time and energy towards the development of their course. It was a co-creation process in which every team member was equally involved and experienced a sense of ownership of the process and deliverables.

At the same time, it was a great opportunity to receive feedback about this new approach to campus course design. Formally and informally reflecting on the experience of the participants resulted in the ability to identify what ‘value’ meant for each of them individually.

With the process and our input being perceived as valuable and the overall positive experience of the participants, we can safely conclude that this was a successful first run. Enough reason to start with the preparations for next year. If you are interested in participating in the next bootcamp on 5 & 6 April (2023), Sign up here!
