Prof. Dr. Kofi Makinwa, hoogleraar Electronic Instrumentation en voorzitter van de sectie micro-elektronica bij de faculteit EWI, is verkozen tot lid van de Koninklijke Nederlandse Akademie van Wetenschappen (KNAW).

Prof. dr. Jenny Dankelman, hoogleraar Biomechanical Engineering, ontving € 120.000 van het Universiteitsfonds Delft voor haar onderzoeksproject ‘Een OK voor iedereen; Let’s make surgery safer for everyone’.

In recognition of the long standing collaboration between South Africa and the Netherlands in education and research, and with the ambition to strengthen postgraduate training while enhancing sustainable collaboration between South African and Dutch higher education institutions (HEIs), an agreement was signed in 2017 between the NRF and Nuffic (Netherlands organisation for internationalisation in education represented locally in South Africa by Nuffic’s Netherlands Education Support Office.

Mark van Loosdrecht (TU Delft en Bruce Rittmann (Arizona State University) zijn de winnaars van de 2018 Stockholm Water Prize vanwege hun revolutionaire werk aan het verbeteren van (afval)waterbehandeling. Dit is vandaag in Stockholm bekend gemaakt tijdens de Wereldwaterdag. Hun vooruitstrevende onderzoek naar microbiologische processen en de daaruit voortvloeiende innovaties hebben geleid tot vermindering van kosten en energieverbruik in afvalwaterbehandeling, maar ook tot het terugwinnen van stoffen daaruit.
