Interreg 2 Seas Project: Upcycle Your Waste

An important condition for the transition to a circular economy is the implementation of business cases for the conversion of industrial waste into raw materials. Only 25% of SME waste is now reused. To catch up, SMEs need the following:

  • Knowledge about their waste flows & associated circular business cases
  • Solutions & tools to improve resource efficiency
  • Better mutual cooperation to organize scale & jointly develop waste recycling processes

The project

The goal of "Upcycle Your Waste" is to accelerate the development and implementation of circular business cases for SMEs for the conversion of industrial waste into raw materials.

The end result of the project is an increase in circular business cases picked up by SMEs in the partner areas. Expected side effects include a reduction in waste transport and related emissions, a more efficient use of resources, a reduction in costs for the collection of industrial waste and new jobs in the circular economy in our partner regions and other parts of the 2 Seas area.

Upcycling is defined by the project partners as the process of converting waste into new materials or products of equal or better quality or for environmental, economic and social value. In each partner area, there is collaboration with various companies and various residual flows on one business park.
