MSc module: CIEM6230 Public Transport and Railway Systems

The module Public Transport (PT) and railway systems deals with modelling, design and analysis of public transport and railway operations including the interactions with the customer demand and system governance. Three main units compose this module, namely:
i) Public transport planning and operations, which focuses on PT service design, access and egress, PT control and emerging modes.
ii) Public transport networks and modelling, which deals with behavioural and network modelling of PT as well as design and analysis of PT systems.
iii) Railway Operations and Control, which tackles railway safety and signalling, railway automation and coordination in the railway value chain.

MSc unit: CIEQ6231 Public Transport System and Supply Planning and Operations

Societal aspects of the entire public transport planning process and operations are discussed. Also, the (expected) impacts of new technologies and emerging modes on sustainability and equity will be evaluated. The part of the unit dealing with first and last-mile solutions will discuss bicycle-related and micormobility solutions. More information can be found here.

MSc unit: CIEQ6232 Public Transport Demand and Network Planning and Operation

Modelling PT planning problems. The course consists of three blocks: network and demand analysis, network assignment and design, and service design. Societal aspects of the entire public transport planning process are discussed. The unit will discuss the relations between public transport service design and societal/urban development goals such as accessibility, coverage, sustainability, equity and resilience. Attention is also given to communicating modelling and analysis results to decision makers and implications of mobility service developments for different user groups. More information can be found here.

BSc course: CT3502 Het Transportsysteem

Deze cursus bevat basiskennis over het object van het toepassingsdomein: het transportsysteem. Een breed scala aan onderwerpen wordt in hun onderlinge samenhang gepresenteerd, telkens gekoppeld aan een transportsysteemmodel dat hierbij dient als conceptueel raamwerk. Bij alle elementen, w.o. lading (reizigers en vracht), vervoermiddelen en verkeersinfrastructuur, wordt telkens afwisselend aandacht geschonken aan personen- en goederenvervoer. Klik hier voor meer informatie.

Planning Public Transport Services Course, Amsterdam

The course will provide the ultimate guide to public transport planning, operations and policy. The objective of the course is to combine traditional operations and new approaches to service planning and finding solutions to difficult and persistent public transport problems. It is designed for professionals working in the public transport domain including urban and transport planners, operators and analysts, consultants as well as for young researches. This course is provided in association with the Institute of Transport Studies, Monash University, the Transportation Research Centre at the University of Auckland and the Delft University of Technology.
