On 12 October, Kornelis Blok was appointed Honorary Professor at the Institut Teknologi Sumatera by the rector, Prof I Nyoman Pugeg Aranthya. Kornelis Blok, together with Jaco Quist and others, is involved in a collaborative project aimed at making electricity supply in Indonesia more sustainable.

Quantum physicists at Delft University of Technology have shown that it’s possible to control and manipulate spin waves on a chip using superconductors for the first time. These tiny waves in magnets may offer an alternative to electronics in the future, interesting for energy-efficient information technology or connecting pieces in a quantum computer, for example.

On 13 October 2023 Alliander and the TU Delft Powerweb Institute signed a letter of intent to collaboratively foster innovation to find intelligent solutions that will accelerate the energy transition and contribute to a more sustainable and greener world.

Extracting as much energy as cost-effectively as possible from each individual wind turbine epitomised the short-term approach of the past.
