Microscopy workshop – Witch hazels

11 February 2023 14:00 till 16:30 | Add to my calendar

The witch hazel is a beautiful plant that flowers from January through March. In the TU Delft Hortus Botanicus artist and microscopist Rob van Es takes you on a journey to discover this plant under the microscope. Thinly cut slices of witch hazel will be treated with dyes and alcohol so that the amazing internal structure of the plant becomes as beautiful as the fowers themselves. We will make photos of the images with your smart phone and the microscopic preparations you will make can be taken home as a trophy. Ten microscopes and all other supplies will be provided. This workshop is also suitable for those  who have never used a microscope.
