Profile

Biography

Dr. Bianca Giovanardi joined TU Delft as a Tenure-Track Assistant Professor in the Dept. of Aerospace Structures and Materials (LR) in December 2020, being awarded a Delft Technology Fellowship. She earned her Ph.D. in Computational Mathematics in 2017 from the Politecnico di Milano, where she was awarded a Roberto Rocca Doctoral Fellowship. After her Ph.D., she joined the Massachusetts Institute of Technology as a postdoc in high-performance computing for nonlinear solid mechanics, fracture mechanics, and fluid-structure interaction. In the context of her postdoctoral research, she developed advanced computational models for synthetic bio-inspired materials and for living materials. During her postdoc she was selected as one of the Women in Aerospace 2019 and one of the  Caltech Young Investigator Lecturers 2019. Her current research interests include next-generation models for physics-aware AI and high-performance computing for the modelling of bio-inspired and living materials.
