The Centre for Safety in Healthcare has been established in 2020 with the main task to find ways to reduce preventable injury and deaths in healthcare.
Human behaviour is at the core of creating and maintaining a safe environment. And vice versa, a safe environment is at the core of learning, growth and progress. Both elements are elemental to a safety culture, that is known to lead to optimal team performance. Our aim is to investigate and promote a safety culture in the context of the highly socio-technical environment of healthcare.
Research Domains
Our research will focus on three domains. The first is human behaviour. Safety culture and team performance in dynamic and complex working environments are important aspects. The second is to explore how technological innovations can help us attain higher safety levels. The third is to look at the safety of technological innovations aimed at healthcare, in the context of the cross-sectional program ‘Safe by Design’.
Working Together
To achieve our goals we will have a broad cooperation with various sections within the TU Delft, the LDE alliance and Healthcare institutions. This is to lead to innovative approaches that help healthcare professionals to do their work as best and safe as possible.
