Our Team

We are a network of researchers and students, working together to develop, design and implement the latest tools, technologies and process to support decision-making and build resilient communities. Here you can see who are the latest members of our team, learn more about them, and how we work together.

Aaron Ding

I lead the Cyber-Physical Intelligence (CPI) Lab as Tenured UD1 at TU Delft and Associate Professor (permanent) in Computer Science at the University of Helsinki.

Julien Magana

My name is Julien Magana, I am a 23-year-old Frenchman from Rouen, Normandy, who recently graduated from Sorbonne University, and I will be working on the project "Pandemic Lessons for Flood Disaster Preparedness.

Tatiana Filatova

I am a chemical engineer, in the Safety and Security Science Section at TPM. My research interests are process safety, probabilistic risk assessment, risk management, environmental management with application to the process and maritime industries.

Matthieu Lauras

I am Full-Professor and Deputy-Head of the Industrial Engineering Center at IMT Mines Albi (France). I develop contributions to support collaborative networks’ stakeholders to better make their decisions in uncertain and/or disruptive environment.

Guillermo Prieto Viertel

Hi! I am a 2d year MSc student in the Engineering and Policy Analysis program at the Delft University of Technology. My background is in physics, and I am also a philosophy student. My main interest is urban development focusing on inclusion, sustainability, and well-being.

Ellen Minkman

My name is Ellen Minkman. My research concentrates on decision making and governance arrangements for future-proof urban deltas as well as governance transitions in water management and other transitions driven by climate change (e.g. agriculture, energy).

Jen Roux

Floris van Steijn

My name is Floris van Steijn, and I am a PhD candidate focusing on measuring resilience. As crises and disasters will be more frequent and severe in the face of climate change, there is an increased need for building resilience, in order to be able to bounce back from such disturbances. Of course, building resilience will be more effective if we have a view of what contributes to this capacity to bounce back, and what does not.

I am a Political Scientist by training with an MSc System Dynamics and doctoral title in (re)producing the governance of Public-Private Partnerships. At TUDelft, I am part of the group of Ethics and Philosophy,

Su Mae Chua

Su Mae Chua is an environmental justice researcher and a PhD candidate working within the Ethics and Philosophy of Technology section at TPM.

Ali Cheshomi

I am Ali Cheshomi, a Ph.D. candidate at the Faculty of Technology, Policy, and Management, TU Delft, currently involved in the AGILE Project, with my research focused on crisis decision-making.

Dr. Samantha Copeland

I am a philosopher, in the Ethics and Philosophy of Technology section at TPM, working on issues that arise when we have to make ethical decisions under conditions of uncertainty.

Dr. Nazli Aydin

I am a member of the 4TU-DeSIRE program on Resilience Engineering and a tenure-track Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Technology, Policy and Management, Multi Actor Systems, TU Delft. I focus on understanding and measuring the unique characteristics of resilient cities and critical infrastructures.

Prof.dr. Tina Comes

I am the director of the TPM Resilience Lab as I firmly believe that our societies need to become more resilient. I have a background in Decision Theory and coordination. Since my PhD, I have been determined to better understand decision-making of individuals and groups in the context of risk, crises and disasters.

My name is Neelke Doorn and I am professor Ethics of Water Engineering. I have a background in civil engineering (TU Delft), philosophy (Leiden University) and law (Open University). In my research, resilience plays an important role.

Dr. Amineh Ghorbani

I am an associate professor at the Engineering Systems and Services at the TBM Faculty of Technology, policy and management at, Delft University of Technology. She is also an affiliated member of the “Institutions for Collective Action” institute at Utrecht University. 

Dr. Jazmin Zatarain Salazar

My name is Jazmin Zatarain Salazar and I am an Assistant Professor of Policy Analysis. My research interest focus on advancing multi-objective decision support for siocio-environmental systems.

Mikhail Sirenko

I am a researcher. I research the intersection between: cities, data and uncertainty. I want to understand how cities, where many of us live now, will recover, adapt or transform under uncertain future shock like pandemic or stress like climate change.

Dr.ir. Jan Kwakkel

Jan Kwakkel is a full professor. His research interest is model-based decision support for decision making under deep uncertainty. He is the lead developer of an open source workbench for exploratory modeling, scenario discovery, and multi-objective (robust) optimization.

Ir. Supriya Krishnan

My research focus is to explore and develop a methodology for urban planning under climate uncertainties. I primarily work with two contrasting cities of the Global north and south: Amsterdam and Mumbai.

Dr. Saba Hinrichs-Krapels

I am new at TU Delft working on how we strengthen health systems by ensuring our (health+) demands are met by care supplies.

Hidde Menno Bijlard

I am an MSc student in the Engineering & Policy Analysis program. I am interested to understand how to reduce the impact of infectious diseases (e.g. COVID-19) on our society. I believe that better understanding can save lives and improve wellbeing.

Elias Bach

I am an MSc student in Engineering and Policy Analysis at the Delft University of Technology. Currently, I am working on my MSc thesis project. Broadly speaking, I am interested to understand the social impact of climate change.

Aarthi Sundaram

I research at the intersection of climate change, energy transition, complex systems and networks. I work with the understanding that resilience is as important as decarbonization in the societal response to the consequences of climate change. At the core of climate resilience are people and their relationships with the environment they live in.

Ir. Geertje Slingerland

I am a designer and researcher with a background in interaction design. I enjoy to study how design can contribute to positive behavioural change of people, and ultimately systemic change in society.

Dr. Justyna Tasic

I am a Marie Sklodowska-Curie fellow at the TPM, Multi-Actor Systems Department. Previously, I have been a research associate at the Future Resilient Systems Programme, Singapore-ETH Centre.

Dr. Carissa Champlin

I am an urban planner in the department of Engineering Systems and Services at the TPM faculty, where I specialize in developing facilitation tools and methods for future-oriented planning.

Dr. Daniel Teodoro

I am a computational social scientist at the Engineering Systems and Services department at TPM. My research in the Resilience Lab focuses on advancing the theory and practice of intertemporal justice in climate resilience decision-making.

Dr. Ylenia Casali

Born in Milan, Italy, I did my bachelors and masters in Environmental and Land Planning Engineering, from Politecnico di Milano in 2014. I received my PhD degree in 2019 from ETH Zurich.

Vittorio Nespeca

I am an environmental engineer, with a background on flood early warning and response, and a passion for community support. This passion brought me into the field of information systems for community resilience.

Dr. Raphael Klein

I am an aerospace and policy analysis engineer at the TPM faculty. My current research interests revolve around climate adaptation, infrastructure, mobility and human behaviour.
