Inside the SUTQ Experience: TU Delft's Trip to Twente University

The Senior University Teaching Qualification (SUTQ) at TU Delft is a program designed for advanced lecturers, which was launched on September 26th, 2023, with a pilot group.

Participants in the TU Delft SUTQ program have reached the midway point of their trajectory and have recently returned from a study trip to Twente University.

Eight SUTQ participants spent two days on campus, immersing themselves in the educational approach at UT. They had individual meetings with fellow colleagues who are innovating in fields relevant to their projects, and they had the opportunity to meet SUTQ alumni at Twente University.

During the trip, participants explored the competence-based curriculum tool, Challenge-based Learning in Robotics, and the Curriculum of Twente University College.

The trip was spiced by a masterclass in public speaking facilitated by an educational consultant and an actor. Participants learned techniques for engaging the audience and harnessing the power of their voice.

That’s what our participants say about the Study trip: “What I liked about the study trip was be away from office and regular work, which allowed to focus on the visit. The overall topic of the curriculum and focus on vision encouraged me to think about my own education from a bird’s eye perspective, as well triggered many interesting discussions on how to practically apply the Twente Education Model in Delft. The take home message was to focus on the students’ learning journey, which enables less mandatory knowledge gathering, many electives, and more room for multidisciplinary projects.”
