Mohammad Soleimani

Mohammad obtained his Ph.D. at the Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e). He carried out his Ph.D. project titled “Exploring the Morphology, Chemistry, and Mechanics of Biogenic Silica in Diatoms” under the supervision of prof. Rolf van Benthem and dr. Heiner Friedrich. During his research, he designed a new toolbox to in situ fabricate and manipulate different silica-based materials at micrometer length scales and determine their mechanical properties inside Focused Ion Beam Scanning Electron Microscopy (FIB-SEM).

Currently, Mohammad is a postdoc researcher in Corrosion Technology and Electrochemistry (CTE) group, where he works on synthesizing Metal-Organic Frameworks (MOFs) for electrochemical reduction of CO2 under the supervision of Dr. Peyman Taheri. His primary goal is to obtain MOF-based materials with high conductivity as well as a high density of catalytic sites. To achieve this objective, Mohammad works on low-dimensional and heterometallic MOFs that may pave the way to overcome the known difficulties and challenges of conversion of CO2 into desired compounds/fuel.
