The mission of the European Laboratory for Learning and Intelligent Systems (ELLIS) is to create a diverse European network that promotes research excellence and advances breakthroughs in AI, as well as a pan-European PhD program to educate the next generation of AI researchers. ELLIS also aims to boost economic growth in Europe by leveraging AI technologies.
The ELLIS Delft Unit will focus on using learning techniques as a key enabling technology to deal with complex tasks, and making intelligent systems adapt to their environment including social circumstances. The people of our unit offer unique strengths in many fields, particularly in:
- Sequential decision making (e.g., reinforcement learning and scheduling) with applications in domains like robotics, vision, self-driving cars, smart energy systems, transportation, smart cities, and cybersecurity.
- Interaction (multi-agent/actor decision making) with applications such as in human-AI interaction and collaboration, crowdsourcing, and web technologies.
- Machine learning techniques for bioinformatics in the context of healthy living, disease diagnosis and prevention, and microbiological industrial processes.
Faculty Joining Instructions
ELLIS members that work at TU Delft can join the ELLIS Delft Unit as faculty. Prospective members may either self-nominate, or may be nominated by a current ELLIS member. For more details on applying to join ELLIS, please visit: https://ellis.eu/members
