The New Engineering Education Transformation (NEET) initiative at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) has compiled an assessment of the engineering education as part of MIT’s efforts to rethink their own curriculum. The report, called the “Global state of the art in engineering education,” interviewed a variety of experts in engineering education and completed an in-depth assessment of  four universities, including TU Delft.

The Faculty of Aerospace Engineering was highlighted as part of the case study, describing in great detail both the bachelor’s and the master’s programmes at the Faculty. The reported noted in particular the benefits of the Faculty’s design-centred educational approach and the success of the university’s DreamTeams, including the Delft Aerospace Rocket Engineering (DARE) team. Our Director of Education Aldert Kamp was noted for his contribution to the vision of the engineer of the future.

Overall, the report found that TU Delft is, “A university known for its egalitarian culture and spirit of inclusivity that has allowed bottom-up innovation to emerge in areas such as design-led curricula, student-led extra-curricular activities and online learning.” The university was ranked as 4th on a list of current thought leaders and 7th on a list of future thought leaders by the report.
