Research during Corona: Elizabeth Carroll's story

"My research group is mainly experimental, combining optics and biology, so certainly our work is altered a lot right now. I see students feeling grief that they will not be able to achieve all of their original BEP/MEP goals. Yet, even in the best of times, research often does not go as planned and one has to be agile. We are focused now on pivoting, staying positive, and supporting each other. Weekly ZOOM meetings are helping to mitigate the monotony and loneliness of doing research from home. I think it is important to combat the illusion that we now have 'extra time', when, in fact, most of us experience increased stress and workload. I am really proud of my team’s response to the situation.“
