KLM and Delft join forces on the path towards sustainable aviation

Tuesday 9 May TU Delft signed up for KLM's Corporate BioFuel Programme, undertaking to promote the use of more sustainable biofuels on staff business trips. TU Delft is conducting research into biofuels in aviation. By taking part in this programme, the University is making an active contribution to the operational use of more environmentally friendly jet fuel. The Corporate BioFuel Programme is a bid by KLM to stimulate the market for sustainable biofuels, with the ultimate aim of reducing CO2 emissions.

Possibility of ‘hydraulic’ offshore wind farm

For his doctorate awarded on Tuesday, 4 April, TU Delft researcher Antonio Jarquin Laguna investigated the possibility of a ‘hydraulic’ offshore wind farm. It involves the direct drive mechanism of the wind turbine being replaced by a positive displacement pump, which is used to bring pressurised seawater into a hydraulic network.
