Biography

Nikolina Šoštarić obtained a BSc and MS in Chemistry with specialization in Physical Chemistry and Biochemistry from University of Zagreb. She then obtained a PhD in Bioscience Engineering from KU Leuven, supported by a personal FWO fellowship. Her research focused on effects of post-translational modifications on protein interactions and metabolic rewiring in ethanol-tolerant yeast. For her postdoc, Nikolina worked on post-transcriptional regulation in T lymphocytes at Sanquin Institute in Amsterdam. In August 2023, she started a Van Rijn position with emphasis on education at TU Delft. Nikolina is also passionate about science popularization and has led multiple initatives that aimed to inspire students to study STEM.
