Profile
Biography
I am a biophysicist working at the interface of imaging physics and neurobiology. In 2001, I completed a PhD in Applied Physics at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor on the topic of coherent optical control of small molecule photochemical reactions. I further specialized in femtosecond absorption spectroscopy of biomolecules and nanomaterials, before deciding to change directions and focus on fluorescence imaging and optogenetics. I trained in zebrafish neurobiology and in vivo optical microscopy at the University of California, Berkeley. I joined the TU Delft in 2016.
Expertise
I have expertise in wavefront shaping, nonlinear optics, and time-resolved fluorescence microscopy. My biological expertise is in photobiology, optogenetics, synaptic plasticity, and zebrafish neurodevelopment.
Awards
2016-2022, Delft Technology Faculty Fellowship
