F. (Francesco) La Malfa PhD

I am a dynamic person and a sport-technology lover. In particular, I am interested on technologies that aim to improve the living conditions of the human being. For this reason, I embarked on the engineering path: BSc in Physical engineering, specializing in Nanotechnologies for ICTs at the Polytechnic of Turin. Finally, I took my doctorate in Materials Engineering, Structures and Nanotechnology at the University of Salento, in collaboration with the Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia.
During these years, I have deepened the use of manufacturing processes, for the creation of various devices and electrodes. In particular, different experiences, both in companies and universities, have allowed me to deepen my knowledge on microfluidics, electrochemistry, and wearable sensing for detection applications. This allowed me, during my doctorate, to develop different electrodes for different applications (glucose detection, energy harvesting, deformation detection).
Last but not least, the love for sports has allowed me to know from the inside the training dynamics of high-level athletes. For this reason I started to work on the analysis of the data of these athletes, with the aim of improving their performance both in training and in race.
