Following a short introduction of Spectral - a rapidly growing smart energy technology company based in Amsterdam - a number of Spectral’s ongoing projects within the domains of smart buildings and energy control systems will be presented in more detail. The presentation will provide a deeper look into the implementation process and the solutions which are applied across a number of unique cases. The presentation will also discuss the current state of the art in the industry and the future vision for the evolution of smart grids and smart buildings, propelled by the development of cutting-edge technologies.       

Milan Milinkovic - Lead Control Systems Architect
A power systems engineer with a strong background in the fields of renewable energy, control system design, and machine learning, with a joint masters in smart grid technologies from KTH (Stockholm) and UPC (Barcelona). Milan joined Spectral in 2018, and his work has focused on the design, implementation, and realization of mission-critical asset control systems for delivery of multiple, stacked energy services, including peak power management, provision of balancing services, and secondary functionalities, such as commercial optimization based on market price forecasts. During his time at Spectral, he has acted as lead control systems engineer for a number of cutting-edge hybrid, renewable energy power plants, including Hartel II and the “Rhino battery” projects which contain the largest battery storage systems in the Netherlands.

Dmitry Surugin - Team Lead Smart Building Engineering & Control
Dmitry is leading the Smart Building Engineering & Control team at Spectral, whose focus is on predictive energy optimization, data analytics, and HVAC control. He has an extensive background as a technological designer and engineering consultant in renewables, sustainable energy systems, and high-performance building design/operation. Prior to joining Spectral, Dmitry obtained a PDEng in Smart Buildings & Cities at TU Eindhoven. To stimulate equitable energy policy-making and risk-aware design support for low-carbon buildings, Dmitry has proposed new methods for creating weather data for building performance simulations as part of his work at TU/E
