Update on teaching halls for start of academic year

Last updated 30 August 2021

The teaching halls have been made suitable for teaching on campus based on the new government rules. In addition, additional space has become available to allow for more physical education. Furthermore, several halls have been maintained and upgraded with special attention to facilities for hybrid education. You will find the most important issues below.

Corona measures in education halls

  • As of today, the furniture in most education halls is back in its original arrangement. There is no need to keep a distance of 1.5 meters between them. There is still a maximum schedule capacity of 75 people per room.
  • The buildings and teaching rooms are ventilated as well as possible, in accordance with the government's ventilation policy.
  • The rooms are cleaned properly and disinfectants are present in the rooms.
  • Walking routes have been marked at various places in the buildings.
  • When you move within a building where education is given, wearing a mouth mask is mandatory.
  • It may happen that there are more students attending a lecture than previously planned. Do you notice that there are too many students in the room? If so, please contact the Service Office. The Services staff is ready to help.

Extra teaching space

  • From the start of the academic year, extra space is temporarily available. At Lijm en Cultuur on the Rotterdamseweg, adjacent to the TU Campus, temporary accommodation has been realised in the form of luxury tents. This accommodation offers space for work groups and can also be used, if not reserved, as a place for self-study. The four project rooms are equipped with group tables and presentation facilities. There are also vending machines (hot & cold beverages and snacks) and, of course, a restroom. The rooms are open Monday through Friday between 8:15 am and 6:00 pm. For more specifications and location, see the EducationSpacesViewer. For questions, please contact:  Educationspaces-ESA@tudelft.nl.

Improvements in education spaces

  • During the summer, work was carried out in a large number of teaching rooms, so that the rooms can be used optimally again in the new academic year.
  • In addition to regular maintenance, the rooms have been equipped for hybrid forms of education. The following rooms have been equipped with advanced hybrid facilities: TPM Lecture Hall A, Pulse Hall 7, Hall 9 and Technology, BK Hall T, CEG Instruction Room 1.95 and EWI Lecture Hall Chip. Also, the number of Meet-Up sets for hybrid education 'light', where you can teach with a camera in front of the black- or smartboard, has been increased. See the availability of hybrid facilities in the Education Spaces Viewer: ESViewer (tudelft.nl). For substantive information about hybrid teaching, please visit the Teaching Academy: www.tudelft.nl/teachingacademy/support/hybrid-education.
  • Furthermore, the use of the computer in the teaching room has changed. From now on, the computers are not logged in by default. Because of network security you have to log in with your Net-ID. Please log out when you leave the room so your colleague can log in again.
