Who we are
Delft Safety and Security Institute aims to make the world a safer and more secure place. By reasoning from science and society on a global level about global problems. We approach safety and security in a broad sense without limiting us to a specific domain and we always strive to take it one step further.
We develop innovative scientific safety and security methodology and research approaches. With these, we can share, educate, make knowledge accessible and we can answer complex societal safety and security questions. We connect people and knowledge and we work together to achieve results beyond limits.

Safety & Security in a Changing World; Plans for 2024-2028Based on community sessions, talks with researchers and stakeholders, and the anniversary magazine, new focal areas have been developed for the third phase of the institute. Digital Bastards for a Climate Resilient Delta - Succesful Lorentz WorkshopDigital twins of the Earth are a means for scientists, policymakers, and industry to engage with society and extract the best value from existing data and models to understand and interact with 'system Earth'. We look back at a successful workshop. A position paper on the topic is in the making.
