Research and Projects

His research interests include coastal flood risk management and the design of coastal defenses. This involves the examination of nearshore wave transformation, run-up and overtopping of both natural and man-made structures. His previous research examined wave transformation and run-up in fringing reef environments and the validation of the XBeach numerical model. Now, he is applying similar methods to study wave transformation and the overtopping of dikes under similar shallow water conditions.

All-Risk Subproject B2: Wave propagation over foreshores and effect on the crest level design of dikes

  • This research examines the influence of the foreshore on infragravity-wave dynamics and the overtopping of flood defenses.
