Research Program RESET (Reliable Embankments for Safe Expansion in Rail Traffic)

TU Delft has joined force with Deltares on a joint research program funded by ProRail on soil conditions and railway constructions, specifically targeting regions with soft ground and waterlogging. Central to this is the pooling of expertise from TU Delft and Deltares concerning subsoil, measurement, monitoring, climate and the applications from other sectors. This will be combined with ProRail’s insights into railway infrastructure and its environment. Through such collaborative efforts, we aspire to deliver value by addressing pressing challenges faced by modern railway systems (more, longer, heavier and faster trains). The program makes a significant contribution to the ambition of ProRail and the Ministry of Infrastructure and Water. DelftRail manages the program, the participating departments are Geoscience & Engineering, Engineering Structures.
